Play
Switzerland is easy to start in: most towns have a club and many offer trial lessons.
Finding a club
- Visit the Swiss Tennis website (swisstennis.ch) and look for its club listing.
- Ask a nearby club about trial lessons, junior programmes and membership.
- Many clubs also let non-members book a court by the hour.
Court types
- Clay: a slower surface with a high bounce, common at Swiss clubs.
- Hard court: a faster and more even surface, outdoors or in a hall.
- Indoor courts: halls let you play through the winter.
Seasons
Outdoor courts are generally used from spring to autumn. In winter, play moves to indoor halls, so tennis is possible all year.
Tips for beginners
- Wear court shoes to protect the surface and your ankles.
- Book a few lessons to learn the basics.
- Start with short rallies and enjoy it.
